about sarah

I am a fifth generation Oregonian, born and raised in the Willamette Valley. My experience with childhood poverty and the lack of a safety net to meet basic needs sparked a lifelong mission to fight for a more human and equitable distribution of resources. It started with serving on the city’s youth council in high school before spending two decades working within the public and nonprofit sectors to change the status quo. I have led strategy, managed teams and developed organizational capacity within multiple leadership roles, including executive director, deputy director, development director, board of directors officer, and multiple public affairs and communications positions. I started my career in Washington, DC on Capitol Hill and moved to Seattle in 2008 to get a Masters in Public Administration from the Evans School at University of Washington. I live with my husband and two young daughters in the incredible High Point neighborhood of West Seattle on the homeland of the Coast Salish and Duwamish people. I spend my leisure time reading, writing, playing tennis, downhill & cross country skiing, paddleboarding, polar plunging, wine tasting and traveling near & far.
